Community Curriculum
Throughout the year, we focus on a different kindness and community project each month. These projects give children the opportunity to practice empathy, cooperation, and helping others in meaningful ways. By working together on simple acts of care—like the projects below—children begin to see themselves as capable helpers and active members of their community.
Sample Monthly Service Projects:
September – Welcome & Community
Make “Welcome to the Neighborhood” cards for local firefighters, librarians, or crossing guards.
October – Harvest Sharing
Collect shelf-stable food items for local families. Children decorate collection boxes.
November – Gratitude Project
Create “Gratitude Placemats” for a senior residence before Thanksgiving.
December – Winter Warmth
Assemble small winter care bags with: Hats….Gloves…Socks…Toiletries…Handmade Notes
Discuss empathy in simple language: “How can we help people stay warm?”
January – Kindness Tree
Each child adds leaves with kind acts they did that week.
February – Valentine’s Senior Visit
