This Valentine’s Day, our children visited our senior neighbors at a nearby assisted living community to share a little kindness and joy. We baked special treats, sang songs together, and spent time sharing stories. These visits are part of our Community Curriculum, where children learn about caring for others and being part of a larger community. You can learn more about the Community Curriculum here.
There is so much to learn from gardening! Our afterschool group is helping plant veggies and flowers in our Spring garden.
It was an exciting day at afterschool! Our caterpillars turned to butterflies and we were able to hold them gently and then set them free!
Sensory play is important throughout the early years. Mixing, measuring and experimenting with textures and materials is also a great way to explore STEM concepts through play!
One of the things we like to do most in afterschool is make process-based art in the great outdoors! Surrounded by beautiful trees, flowers, butterflies and more makes for the perfect inspiration.

"Little Red Playschool teaches children how to cook in Washington. The school has been serving as a nursery/preschool for two to four-year-olds for almost 35 years and offers culinary classes to teach children sorting, counting, sharing, telling time, measuring, fine motor skills, and tactile exploration as well as about healthy eating and foods. The instructor is the director of Little Red Playschool and is also co-founder of the Palisades Farmers Market.
